I got this as part of that action pack (Battleship, Axis & Allies, Risk and Stratego). We have the board game and love it. My eight year old son is the one who plays this. The rules are the same as the board game. He plays against the computer, and to be honest, I can't figure out how to get the two player game to work correctly. You place the ships but the computer seems to change their positions anyway.
But as a one player game for kids, it really works. It has video that accompanies each players "shots". Torpedoes, rockets, explosions...the whole works. And you can space bar through long sequences.
I don't think it is too violent. Certainly no blood and gore. My son enjoys it. It does make you think a bit. Trying to guess where the enemy ships are hiding.
This game is easy to play. As a one player game, it's lots of fun.
