| jkerouac's Full Review: Jenga |
One of the simplest games us adults play. I understand that kids do too. I've been playing Jenga for as long as I can remember. In this game three wooden pieces are place in each row skyward. The pieces are pushed out one at a time from any row but the top one and then placed on the top row. The rows get higher and higher until the spacing of the blocks already taken out is enough to make the tower very unstable. When someone takes out the wrong piece the tower falls over and JENGA is called out.The objective of the game is to not be the one to knock over the towering pile of blocks. Gets pretty nail biting sometimes.
My main focus however isn't on the game itself. Fun nevertheless, as with all toys Jenga can get old after awhile. One day I was at a friends house and he pulled out Jenga for us to play. I noticed words on the blocks and thought, "wow why didn't I think of that?" Writing on the pieces can be used many different ways. You can do studying games for children (State on one side, Capital on the other), for church study groups (Hymns and Verses), for drinking games (Drink Two, Give 3 etc.)and so on. I would like to receive any input on how other people might use this method of playing. Also, for those of us who watch ESPN isn't that a great commercial(where the sportcaster is playing John Randle at a game of Jenga and wins, thus jumping up from his seat and running around yelling JENGA!!!JENGA!!!)
