This is a great stove with one flaw, but it's a big one.
We'd had it for a little over 2 years when it caught on fire by itself. My husband was up late at night reading in the living room when he heard the electronic ignition on the stove start making a clicking noise. No one else was up, and the stove hadn't been used in hours. Thinking maybe the cat had turned it on, he went to investigate -- only to find that the electronics under the knobs were on fire. He was able to get the fire put out before anything more serious happened, but the house was filled with smoke.
I called Whirlpool (who bought Maytag, who'd previously bought Jenn-Air) and after some discussion they sent someone out to fix it. Parts had to be ordered and in the end, I was without a stove for a little over three weeks. I am still concerned that the thing might catch fire, since I believe it's an issue with the electronic switches. The fact that others have had the same problem really worries me, and I don't have much confidence in the repairs. I've talked with Whirlpool about it, and despite the other reviewers here who say they've contacted the company, Whirlpool denies ever hearing of such a problem.
There are two similar reviews here, and I've found others using Google, including a news report about a woman who had the same thing happen. Her stove was repaired twice, and when the electronic ignition went haywire and it caught fire a third time, they finally replaced it. That should speak for itself. I wouldn't buy one of these until they issue a recall and get the safety issues straightened out.
