The Bottom Line: Only buy this if you can afford to replace the whole thing at any time for any reason, because replacement parts will be impossible to get.

I was getting a stereo for my car. Being a college student in an urban area, I just wanted something to play my music on those long drives home, not something to encourage people to break into my car.
For the most part, the workings are easy to figure out without reading the manual. That's a real plus. In my opinion, I shouldn't be concentrating on the logic of my CD player when I am driving. It's really easy to get at the things I want to affect (volume, bass, treble, track) without having to look at the display, which allowed me to keep my eyes on the road. The more important buttons are larger, an important thing when you're trying to feel around for the presets at 50 miles an hour.
The only thing about the install was that I had to get a different connector for my car. Otherwise, it went smooth. And the audio is decent for the price.
However, I lost the face plate. One of the dangers of detachable faceplates, to be sure. And it's been impossible to get it replaced. I don't really want to reinstall a new stereo because I lost a $5 piece of plastic and wire!! But it appears it might end up that way. There is no online ordering process for simple things like replacement parts. I don't see a customer service number on the papers I've retained. The closest thing you can get is to email customer service.
Well, I've emailed them, which took a couple days to get back to me. At which point they gave me a terse 1-sentence reply with the department to call. But now I can't get their web site to come up in order to get the phone number of the department. They didn't simply put me in contact with the proper department. After all that, I went searching the news on a hunch. Yep, they Chapter 11-ed, it seems. I can only hope now to get a replacement part from buyer Audiovox. Looks like I will be buying a new stereo instead.
