| daddym's Full Review: Kelloggs Special K2o Protein Water, Strawberry Kiw... |
Ihave a soda addiction. I literally go on diets every couple of months because I drink so much soda when I am not dieting that I easily put on weight. Knowing that this is not really good for me, I have been attempting to search out alternative beverages that will satiate my taste for soda, and will of course not contain the sugar and calories of regular soda. This search for alternative beverages led me to Kellogg's Special K20 Protein Water. Actually my wife introduced me to it. She liked it somewhat and thought that I might like it as well.
I am not really fond of flavored waters, so I didn't think I would like it. But I have to admit that it was actually not to bad. I have tasted better, but this was just sweet enough to satisfy me. It actually has something in it that other flavored bottled waters don't, protein.
The Special K20 water actually contains 5 grams of protein which is something you will not find in a lot of drinks. The protein in the water helps you to feel kind of full and is there to help you stay on track on a diet as it will stay with you longer. I have to admit that if I drank a bottle of this about 30 minutes before a meal I was not as hungry and did not eat as much as I normally woul.
Unlike most diet drinks especially Crystal Lite, this drink does have 50 calories. But there is no fat, and there is a small amount of carbohydrate at 8 grams. There are also 8 grams of sugar, so it is not a sugar free drink, but it is a low sugar drink. There is also little bit of sodium at 30mg, but that is not that bad either. The drink also contains some calcium, and there is milk product in there so those who have problems with milk should be aware of this. This drink is made with 10% calcium. So you get a little nutrition for your bones as well when you drink this.
Unfortunately at a just under $2.00 per bottle for a 16 oz bottle if you buy them seperately it is not quite as cheap as soda. If you buy the Pack of 12 it will cost you about $24.00 so you don't really save any money buying it in bulk. So while this would be a nice alternative to soda for me, I don't buy it that often because the price is too high.
So I do recommend the product based on taste, which is good but not great, and for the fact that is definately healthier than soda, and the protein in the water does make me feel kind of full so I eat less, so while I personally like the product, I will not buy it as much as I would like to because it is just simply too expensive.
Other than the price I completely approve of this prouct, but at a time when everything is so expensive cost is a very big determining factor of what I buy these days.
