Tears in my eyes (Reply to this comment)

Pat, I had forgotten. I had forgotten that this book was my heart when I was a child. I read the title and thought, "Sounds familiar." I saw the picture, and it all came back.

Thank you--wonderful review of a book that I must get for my own.

were windows to different worlds to me also. I couldn't dream of a life without them. Thanks for a fine review.

My favorite of all Henry's works (Reply to this comment)

I read all the Henry books that the tiny branch library I used had, including her Misty books and one about a burro in the Grand Canyon. But this one stayed with me, even though I had forgotten the title. I'll never forget the descriptions of how Sham was whipped in the streets! And the day he "escaped" and snuck in before Hobgoblin -- how i hung on every word, unsure of the outcome.

I swear, I read most of this book holding my breath, it captivated me so!

Thanks for bringing it all back so vividly!

regards,
Joan

Your childhood sounds like mine . . . right down to the author. I loved the Misty stories but have never found this one! Looking forward to renewing my acquaintence with this series . . . thanks, Pat.

Yeowza! and all that other good stuff, Halfsweet. This was an excellent review, quit going to the movies for awhile and heave ho your bookshelves on up to Epinions.

Your descriptions on the playground were perfect as were your forays under the covers with a flashlight (I can completely relate). While horses weren't my "thing", I was busy with the "Little House" series fan club. I can see your love for these animals in how you presented the book. I will check it out, because you sent me.

Thanks for your participation, always a pleasure to read your writings.
