| hopelynn's Full Review: Kodak Advantix T570 APS Film Camera |
I found the Kodak Advantix on sale at KMart, during the time they were closing several stores. I took a gamble, and purchased one, since they were priced at half off. What a great decision that turned out to be!
This camera is so easy to use. You just drop in the roll of film, and close the film door. The camera does the loading for you. This was great news to me, since I have never been able to get the holes on the film lined up properly with those dang teeth. The digital window on the back of the camera gives you all sorts of useful information. It lists the film speed, number of remaining exposures, and displays the date. You can set the camera up to print a title on your pictures, so you can remember the occasion.
When you are ready to take pictures, this is a very simple camera to use. Simply look through the viewfinder, center your subject, and shoot. The camera has an autoflash, and an autofocus. Standard rolls of APS film, (Advanced Photo System), contain 24 exposures. Single rolls of film cost between $3.50 and $5.00, depending on brand. You can also purchase 3 roll packs for under $10.00. I have used both Kodak and Fuji film, and have seen no difference in photo quality. When you have taken all of the pictures on the roll, the film will automatically rewind. The film compartment is locked until the film is completely used and rewound. Take the roll out of the camera, and you are ready to develop. I have been known to open the camera before the roll is completely rewound, so this feature saves my pictures!
Developing these rolls of APS film is costlier than standard 35 mm film developing. I have spent up to $15.00 per roll to get double prints. If you have a membership at Costco, or Sam's Club, it's closer to $10.00 per roll. For myself, the cost is worth it. Before purchasing this camera, I had horrible luck with pictures. I always had sun spots, or overexposures. Sometimes, I was lucky to come out with half a decent roll of film. In the long run, I am saving money, and I know when I take a photo, chances are good that it will come out right.
