| toasty4u's Full Review: Konica Minolta Vectis 3000 APS Film Camera |
I bought the Minolta Vectis 30 camera about a year ago, maybe longer. Before that, I owned a simple 35mm camera, but I really wanted a nice camera with a good zoom capability. A lot of the camera's with the extremely powerful zoom power were really expensive, and let's face it, I don't need to zoom in on raindrops on flower petals. So through a reward's program at my job, I got this camera, and could not possibly say enough good things about it.
To start off the drop in loading makes things incredibly easy. No more struggling with that 35mm film, shoving it in the back of the camera and trying to hook the film into those little hinges. No more having to find a place that is on the dimmer side of things to put the film into the camera. Gone are the times of having to find a curb to sit on so that I can struggle with putting the film into the back of that thing. Push one tiny button, and the film compartment pops open...drop the film in and close it. Automatically rewinds and is ready to go..hence the name "drop in film".
The camera also has those nice options of three different formats for the pictures, which is wonderful. The capability of taking a panoramic shot is unbelievable, it really does sight seeing a huge justice. I went canoeing on the Colorado River, and when you look at those panoramic shots I took, you feel like you are there again.
Of course it can imprint the date on the front of your pictures (in several different formats) or you can leave that off completely. There is even an added feature which will allow you to have captions printed on the back of each photo. So let's say you are taking pictures on Christmas morning, no more writing it your self on the back, or later on finding pictures in an old desk and trying to figure out what it was for or when. You just activate the option, and pick which caption, and when your film is developed, the caption will be on the back of each one.
The zooming feature is easy to use as well, with a small button right on top of the camera. It is simple to look at your object, and zoom in or out, to position your shot exactly how you want it to appear. Of course, the auto-focus simplifies it even more.
I took this camera with me to Mammoth, and got some wonderful shots of the mountains, the snow...you name it I took it. I also accidently dropped it on the hard packed ice, well more like threw it about 15 feet onto the snow. There was a scuff mark, and it did finish the roll out, but then I had some problems. However, when I called Minolta, they were unbelievably helpful, even though I was not still under the warranty. I was able to pay a small fee, and have the camera fixed, and get an additional 2 year extension on the warranty. I mailed the camera off, and expected to not see it for quite sometime, and received it in about 2 weeks (which is really not long considering).
What more can I say, it is a great camera.
