duckyone's Full Review: Koss The Plug Earbuds Consumer Headphones
I got these Koss earbud headphones for Christmas last year. I had been asked for them due to the fact that I often sit on regular headphones, smooshing them to beyond repair, and so I prefer earbuds or wireless headphones. My husband picked these out because he thought they'd be good.
The sound IS good, as far as I am concerned. I can hear little things in songs that I don't hear when listening through regular car or computer speakers. I am not quite sure what makes a set of headphones good sound quality-wise, but as a regular recreational headphone user, I am more than satisfied by the way things sound through them. They block out outside sounds, which can be good or bad. It is good when you don't want to hear things. However, my husband likes to walk into the room really quietly and then talk really loudly behind my head, making me jump a mile in my chair. But to his credit, he doesn't know that I am wearing them when he comes in- they are tiny and he doesn't hear the music no matter how loud I have it on.
However, these little earbuds are tricky! They come with different shaped squishy earbud covers, so they can fit inside your ears. I have normal sized ears, but I have difficulty getting the earbuds to stay in my ears. The directions say to squish the ends and then place in your ear so they expand to fit your ear, but I have a lot of trouble with them! I am sitting here typing (of course), and if I move the wrong way, one or the other side will fall out and I have to squish it back into my ear. (It just happened as a matter of fact.) I like the idea of an earbud fitting your specific ear, but I think that Koss needs to do a little more tweaking with their methods before they put out any more headphones like this so they don't fall out of people's ears. They are very comfortable when they stay in, but they don't usually stay in for more than a few minutes unless I don't move my head.
Also, the wire is thinner than most headphones, and not very long, which makes them a bit flimsy and not good for walking around. My cats (which for whatever reason like to play with and/or chew wires, leading to the demise of headphones past), love to hop into my chair, yank my earbuds out of my ears by batting the wire, and running away. They might be amused, but I am not- it hurts. In addition, the thin wires tangle VERY easily. They are a pain to get untangled since the skinny wires make teeny tiny knots.
Oh the plus side, the earbuds are silver and purple. I think they look nice.
These headphones are a good idea but I think they could have been made better. They are acceptable but not particularly great.
