Pros: Light weight mower that gives my yard a clean cut.
Cons: You still have to mow the yard yourself!
The Bottom Line: This is a very good, dependable, and easy to use mower. A three in one (mulch, rear, or side discharge bag) mower. Lawn Boy continues to make a good mower.
TheSmartTraveler's Full Review: Lawn Boy 6.75hp Mower
I bought this Lawn Boy mower at Home Depot. The setup was as easy as pie. After taking it out of the box, all I had to do was adjust the handle, pour the container of oil that came with the mower in the oil filler area, pour in some gasoline, push the primer button a couple of times, and pull the starter cord one time. Not like the infomercials on television where you can pay in 3 easy payments of $29.95, this mower really starts in only 1 easy pull! As the owner of a Lawn Boy, I feel like Alfred E. Neumann because this mower comes with a full 2 year, no worry warranty. What, me worry about a lawnmower, not this Lawn Boy!
My Lawn Boy is a rear wheel drive mower. The simple set handle with foam grips adjusts quickly and easily to the operator's height between 4'10" to 6'5" with a simple adjustment. It has a Sens-A-Speed self propel system that adjusts to how fast I walk behind the mower up to 4mph. A safety feature stops the engine within 3 seconds when I let go of the handle. While I've only used this mower in the mulching mode, the premium three in one system allows one to quickly switch between mulching, rear bag, and side discharge mode without any tools.
The large starter handle on this mower is the best that I have ever used. The wider hard front wheels spread the weight of the mower and also make it more maneuverable, compared to my neighbors who have a Snapper and a John Deere. The inset wheels allow for cutting near flower beds, around trees, or sprinkler heads on both sides of the mower. Each wheel adjusts individually to accommodate cutting heights from 1 to 4 inches. The wheels are so easy to adjust because the Lawn Boy has extra wide levers on each wheel that adjust very easily. The Lawn Boy is excellent in turning without having to raise the front wheels off the ground. My neighbors' mowers weigh and maneuver like a truck. My Lawn Boy darts in and around my yard like my sports car. Their mowers cost more than twice as much as my Lawn Boy. I'd be fooling myself if I said that the Lawn Boy mulches as well as their mowers. The Lawn Boy has a tri-notch blade that gives a good clean and respectable cut. It probably doesn't mulch as well as their mowers, however, when their mower is in the shop, I let them use my Lawn Boy. They both say when their mower is beyond repair, they're getting a Lawn Boy. They both say that they are tired of using the extra clutch on their mowers. That's quite a testimonial from a John Deere and Snapper owner.
In my opinion, this is the best lawnmower in its price range on the market today. That's this ol' Lawn Boy's testimonial.
