becker209's Full Review: LG WM0642H Front Load Washer
Bought this washer about 3 weeks ago from a Major Retailer and posted my comments on their site, but they didn't have the guts to post it cause I always try to keep it 'real' for the rest of us and I guess they couldn't handle it so I'm trying this site. First thing you will notice is how quiet the machine is and you will watch it run for a while !!!! I had a top loader for 13 years ran fine but had my eye on getting this model per a leading Consumer magazine top rating for performance and repair and also users rating on multiple sites and finally was able to get this on sale plus an extra percentage off so I think I got a great deal. Not only is it very quiet but the water it uses is a joke ! You see very little water in it but you do see the clothes are wet. Now I can see how you can save thousands of gallons of water a year !! Only on the spin cycle you will hear a whinning sound but its not that loud either. The clothes come out damp instead of wet. Now if you use a sensor type dryer its another joke on how much more you save on gas or electric costs. The normal wash cycles are about an hour, but you will do fewer loads because of the 4.0 cf drum. Use Gain He gain detergent. It was rated one of the best and the clothes come out clean and smelling like heaven. Many of the problems associated with this washer are caused by the people themselves not carefully reading the manual and detergent directions and using common sense for the little maintenence required to avoid potential problems that could have been prevented in the first place. In addition make sure you wipe INSIDE the rubber seal. If you don't use bleach in any of your loads run the tub cycle once a month. Only drain the pump filter if your not going to use the washer over a week, or if a smell does occur because of non bleach or non tub clean usage. Make sure delivery levels the unit. Use a level. I have no problem on a 2nd story floor regarding the spinning shake. It helps NOT to use a pedestal lower center of gravity less shake. You will hear some ratting somewhere in the house though, it does spins up to 1200 rpm. Now for the important part. THIS MACHINE IS LOADED WITH ELECTRONICS. Get an extended service plan just in case any major part fails after the year warranty. Their is just too much going on not to warrant it. So to again avoid potential problem in circuit failure, hook the animal up to a monster power conditioner available at your local electronics store to protect the computer circuit boards from electrical noise and power isolation and daily surges. Now I finally don't mind to wash.
