I'm a sucker for anything and everything that has to do with roses. I'm, also, allergic to many bubble bath and soap products. Now what do those two things have to do with each other? Read on...
Lush
After hearing so much from the Epinions "Beauty Ladies", I decided to try Lush products. They do not do any animal testing or buy their ingredients from companies that do. They, also, have products that are considered vegan. It was with the vegetarian items that I hoped to find something I could use without having an allergic reaction. All I want is a long, hot, beautifully scented, bubble bath.
Chelsea Garden Bath Bomb
From the Lush website: If you've ever dreamt of bathing among fragrant flower petals, the Chelsea Garden is for you. A floral explosion of oils and petals (rose, jasmine, lavender and poppies). It is flower power at its finest.
Now you see what roses and a bath have in common for me. I was sold as soon as the sales associate told me Chelsea Garden had a rose scent and was full of rose petals. The 6.3 oz. pink ball of rose cost a mere $5.50. The next day Chelsea Garden Bath Bomb was the first goodie to come out of my Lush bag.
I'm sad to report...there wasn't an explosion of any kind. I had a small amount of "fizz" and lots of gray colored water. It did have plenty of rose petals, which wasn't a good thing. What it did get right is the scent. The lovely rose scent lasted from afternoon into the evening in my home. Even my husband commented on how much he liked the smell. Too bad the scent didn't stay on me after I dried off.
Why I Really Didn't Like It
While the scent didn't stick around...the petals did.
My husband arrived home on his lunch hour, right after I had exited the bath. I hadn't seen him since 5 a.m. the previous morning, so while the bath water was draining, I went out to talk with him. Around 10 minutes later I went back to the bathroom to clean the petals out of the tub. Some had dried, already, to the sides of the tub. I moistened a wash cloth and scrubbed them off...leaving tiny pink stains and streaks on my white bathtub. Now, I have to get the cleaning supplies out and really scrub. Any beneficial relaxation I had received went right out the window. The last thing I want to do after a soothing, hot bath is cleaning.
The End
Taking a bath with Lush's Chelsea Garden Bath Bomb is like taking a bath with wet tissues. The petals start out pretty, floating on top of the water. Then they started sticking to me and getting limp...it reminded me of wet tissue paper. The water looked dirty instead of lavender or pink. I didn't feel moisturized by the oils that are reported to be in this bath bomb. At least it didn't dry me out.
The good news is...I'm not allergic to it. For once, I was in the bath with a product that didn't break me out in red, itchy hives. It gave me hope that there are other Lush products that I will love and leave me hive free.
