| Chalathra's Full Review: Lansinoh For Breastfeeding Mothers |
Okay, so I know that some of you wonderful loyal readers I have are tired of hearing about my breasts. I’m sorry! As a breast feeding mother I have found many topics to review dealing with the general vicinity of my, well, breasts.
WHAT is the Deal?!?!??
Okay, I must give you a little bit of info on breastfeeding in order for you to leave my review feeling learned. After all, I’d be willing to bet only a small handful of my readers have had their very own personal experience with breast feeding. However, if you do fall into this category, feel free to skip to the next section of my posting as it will all just be review for you.
When you breastfeed your nipples hurt. This may seem amazing to you. It looks so natural and loving...A mother nestling her baby at her bosom, a loving smile on her face. Isn’t that the dream? In order to fully appreciate the actual scenario, please go get the vacuum cleaner out of the closet. Go ahead, I’ll wait.....
...Got it?...
Okay, lift your shirt, and bra (if applicable). Attach the suction device of your ‘cleaner to your nipple. No, No, No- wait! You have it on the low setting. Please reach over and turn it up full power- to it’s highest point of suction, if you will. Leave on for a couple of seconds. Once you become somewhat accustomed to the pain, pull the vacuum off as slowly as possible, making sure your nipple yanks with it, and then repeat. Are your nipples cracked and bleeding yet? If not, continue until they do. THERE! You now know what it actually feels like to breastfeed an infant. And aren’t you just smiling? No- the actual reality is that breastfeeding hurts. Relax, Relax all you radicals, I am not trying to discourage potential future mothers from breastfeeding. It does get better! There will be a time when you can latch the baby on and not feel the pain all the way down in your toes. And, luckily there is relief!
Lansinoh:
While on the visit to my lactation consultant, previously mentioned in my Nipple Shield review, she gave me a small lavender and white tube that read “Lansinoh Totally Natural. Pure and Safe. For Breastfeeding Mothers.”
“This will help relieve the pain,“ Barb promised.
The tube she handed me had a net weight of .25 oz (That’s 7g) and I was ready to pour the tube about my breasts.
“You only need to apply a small amount. Just rub the cream on your sore nipples.“
And she was right. Upon further investigation, the directions for use read:
Use sparingly. Apply to entire nipple area after each feeding or as needed. Sounds good to me!
Ingredients:
Ready? This product contains:
-100% Lansinoh. The World’s purest Lanolin.
That’s it!
I haven’t sold you yet?
I still have convincing to do? Okay, well another plus to this product is that it does not need to be removed prior to feeding. So, you may apply after a feeding and then just put your girls away and they are ready for the next feeding without any special care. So, the baby is getting a taste of this product. And because I will stop at nothing to provide the best review to you, my loyal reader, I went above and beyond. Figuring the baby will taste the lansinoh, I, Chalathra have tasted the product. (My mom Kamel622 can vouch for me, she watched me do it) The product has absolutely NO taste. Not good, Not bad, Nothing. It did, however make my mouth come alive, ala a breath mint. This was also from tasting the product right from the tube. I can say that Andy has never objected the breast due to the product being used.
The Tops:
Does it work? Yes! There is definite relief with the usage of this product. I am now going to buy stock in the product being as how I know it is about to sky rocket. After all, you did participate in my little experiment didn’t you? Go buy some Lansinoh to make those poor nipples feel better. If my stock remains the same, I will know you didn’t play my game, and I will pout.
