cmaw63's Full Review: Lasko 1820 Stand (Pedestal) Fan
With the arrival of spring you never know what type of weather we will have. It will be hot one day, below freezing the next. I've found the best way to maintain a happy medium is by using the Lasko 1820 Stand (Pedestal) Fan.
Cooling Off or Keeping Warm
I use the Lasko 1820 at my workplace. We have a small office that has no windows and only one heating/cooling vent. There is a vent outside the door in a hallway, so I place the fan in front of the hall vent and face it towards the office door. When I want heat, I put the fan on low facing into the office, but pointed away from me. That way the warmth is being forced in, but I'm not feeling the breeze. When I want to be cooled off, I place the fan in front of the office vent to distribute the cool air throughout my workspace. The Lasko 1820 runs 16 hours a day/7 days a week and has done so for the 2 years I've worked here.
Features
There is a 3 speed dial on top of the fan motor. Low (1), medium (2) and high(3) are the options. You'll find an oval push/pull button next to the speed dial. In the up position the fan will be stationary, pushed down it will allow the fan to oscillate. It has an approximate 180 degree side to side movement.
The Lasko 1829 Pedestal Fan's height can be adjusted from 36" to 52". To adjust, simply turn the grey ring located in the center of the stand's pole, push or pull the fan to the height wanted and tighten the ring again.
The face grill of the fan can be snapped off for easy cleaning of the blades.
The 6' electrical cord isn't as good as it sounds. It is attached to the fan motor, which if at the tallest height of 52 inches will limit the amount of maneuverability. There is a standard 2 prong plug. The cord length doesn't bother me...the fact that these fans are still in excellent working condition outweighs that slight problem.
I'm a Fan
I am surprised at the longevity of this fan. It is running constantly, mostly at low speed. Although, I do have a co-worker that must have a body temp of 212 degrees. For him, it has to be high speed or bust.
The Lasko 1820 Fan's plastic parts have held up well, even after being knocked over numerous times. We have 3 of these fans at my workplace and in two years we have not had to replace any of them.
These were bought by the company, so I paid nothing. I have found them online for about $28 and think they are well worth that. I am a fan of the Lasko 1820 Stand (Pedestal) Fan!
