My daughter’s best friend is like a daughter to me. When I learned that she was expecting her first baby, I wanted to buy her things that would come in useful and bring as much comfort as possible. She was avid about breast-feeding her new baby so I made a note to find her something helpful in that area. Breast-feeding can be a long and difficult task at first and holding a newborn can put a crick in your arm after a while. I know I had that problem 18 years ago with my daughter. When I went shopping at Babies R Us, I was delighted to find the Cuddle-U Nursing Pillow, a product I wish I had had back in the day.

A concealed pocket is attached to the bottom, so when baby no longer needs the extra support, just fold and tuck away the seat wrap. This system is perfect for growing infants, for sitting up and tummy time support. The Cuddle-U is also ideal as a one-size fits all nursing pillow.
Is it really useful?
Anna and I have a close relationship and I have been with her every step of the way through her pregnancy. After the baby was born two months ago, I have practically camped out at her house, giving her advice and showing her the joys of motherhood so I have learned first-hand if this product is useful.
This was one of the first baby products that did come in very useful for her. The baby did have a problem latching on for the first two weeks and this pillow was a Godsend for use while feeding from breast or bottle. It has also been useful as a comfortable prop for Julian when he is just having a gaze around at his new world, Tummy-time is important now as he is exercising his neck muscles and starting to hold his head up already.
The pillow:
This pillow is horse-shoe shaped and fits around any waist or upper torso easily and because of its softness, it’s comfortable to wear. It is made with a soft, cotton fabric and is plushly padded. It’s about 12 inches wide, so the baby fits snugly into it whilst feeding. Both I and Anna have used it constantly for feeding and find it a much more comfortable way to perform the task for both mother and baby.
When propping the baby, the seat wrap holds him in firmly but as he gets older and stronger and moves around more, I wouldn’t trust the Velcro tabs to stay put. I would only recommend using the pillow this way for I’d say 0 – 3mos. The seat wrap folds away into a pocket on the bottom-side of the pillow when not in use.
This pillow is perfect for tummy-time. Because of its shape, it encircles the baby with safe padding and also provides a soft headrest. He loves his tummy-time and is progressing quickly, holding his head up for brief periods but long enough to have a gaze around before he plops onto the soft pillow for a little nap.
Conclusion:
I am really happy with my purchase of the Cuddle-U Nursing Pillow. It was well worth the money and is used constantly for feeding comfort, tummy-time and propping. It does not have a removable cover so you must wash the whole pillow. This can expedite wear and tear. There are replacement covers available though.
I would recommend this product for use with babies up to 3 mos, only because the Velcro tabs would not be strong enough to secure a larger baby. However, its many uses have made both mine and Anna’s and Julian’s baby experience a lot more comfortable and secure.
