pablothegreat's Full Review: Lid Lok Toilet Safety Latch
Yep, we have a toilet lock. Seems a little one wants to play in the water, no matter where that water is. So to counteract this inappropriate water play, I went out and found a Lid Lok Toilet Safety Latch. I found it easier than I expected at my local Walmart, in the baby care section, hanging on an end aisle. Even though every single person who visits our home complains about it, it is worth a little inconvenience to keep my daughter's hands out of the toilet!! Yuck.
This product is not all that inconvenient, it easily lifts up for grownups and older children while still keeping small children and babies out of the toilet water. The latch lifts up by pressing up on two buttons (underneath the latch). The latch will swing outwards so the toilet can be used. It does not get in the way of using the toilet at all, once it is lifted. It snaps back in place easily and quickly. Children and babies will not be able to unlock the toilet lid! This toilet lock is made out of sturdy white plastic and attaches to the toilet with a clamping action. There are 2 different sizes of clamps included in the package to fit different sizes of commodes. It is securely attached and will not pop off as I was afraid might happen when I saw the clamp. It is removable from the toilet when not needed.
I had no trouble installing this item, it easily clamped into place. Besides the grumbling I hear from visitors, I have had no issues with this toilet lock. It prevents water play in the toilet and is easily lifted to use the toilet. The toilet can be cleaned by taking the lock off and then clamping it back in place once the toilet is clean. It also will not pinch fingers (it looks like it might, but it does not.) This is not an item to pass through the family once your child has outgrown it. Forget selling it on Ebay once you are done with it. This is a one family product for obvious reasons!
Effectively locks toilet seat in a down position so children do not play in toilet water. Easy to install and remove.
