I'm an old-fashioned kind of parent. I enjoy giving my kids the "classics" of toys to play with.

For the Christmas before my son turned 3, he got his first set of Lincoln Logs.

My husband was reluctant because he said our son lacked the coordination to build with the set. Still, I persisted and finally won.

The attraction to the Lincoln Logs was immediate. Alex enjoyed building towers and knocking them down again. His coordination has improved and so has his attention span.

He has difficulty building things himself sometimes, but that is a wonderful "excuse" to get down on the floor to play with him.

Lincoln logs belong in every home with a child.
