Pros: Good parts, handles well.
Cons: Mass produced titanium is highly overrated.
The Bottom Line: The Obed always has and probably always will be an average, middle of the road performance bike. It's great for the weekend warrior, but probably not for the serious racer.

| sammy_marvelle's Full Review: Litespeed Obed (1998) |
Sure, every cyclists dream is to own a high-dollar sled made out of the most expensive and exotic material on the market. Titanium seems to be the one that's just within or just out of the reach of most consumers.
But what are you really getting here? It's a mass-produced, one-size-fits-all, cookie cutter titanium frame. Sure, Litespeed will go on and on about their custom-shaped tubesets, but they really don't do much in the real world except look good, which they do.
Now, one of the nice benefits you will get from your high-priced overrated Litespeed is the infinite fatigue life of titanium. But lets be honest with ourselves for a minute. How many years are you actually going to own the same frame? Probably not more than five years, according to the average.
If you insist on spending your money on mass produced titanium, though, the Obed is a middle of the road selection. It does handle well, but if you weigh over about 150 lbs., it rides like a wet noodle. I think you're better off spending your hard earned $2000 on a nice custom steel job that's going to ride smoother, fit better, and have a lot more personality.
