| Staceys1's Full Review: Little Kids Big No Spill Bubble Bucket |
The Little Kids Big No Spill Bubble Bucket is a must for any household with children. It is a greatly innovative product based on such a simple children's game.
All youngsters love to blow bubbles, but I know many adults cringe at the thought. I would dread when my children begged to go outside and blow bubbles since first I would have to stick my finger into those small bottles and fish out the wand (usually more than once during a session), and then inevitably, the container would get knocked over spilling the liquid.
With the Little Kids Big No Spill Bubble Bucket, those problems are non-existent! First, there are three wands, which are about 11 inches long, and only about three quarters of which fit into the bucket. There is no possible way for these wands to get submerged!
Spillage is not a problem with this toy either. The base is large enough that it will not get knocked over easily, and even if it does, the liquid will not leak out.
The Little Kids Big No Spill Bubble Bucket measures about 12 inches high (including the carrying handle) and has a base of about 6 inches in diameter. Ours has a yellow base, a green dome, purple handle and a yellow, an orange and a purple wand, although there are various color combinations available.
It comes with 3 wands and due to the special design, only these will work in this bucket. The wands are easy for young children to hold since the "handle" portion is shaped like a triangle and the hole through which you blow is fairly large. The plastic is thick enough so that it holds onto the bubble solution (although we always use a quality brand) and we generally get a good amount of bubbles out of each try.
Replacement wands can be ordered from the company at a cost of for $6.75 for 3 and $12 for 6 wands, including shipping and handling. This will be the third summer that we are using our Little Kids Big No Spill Bubble Bucket and we have not lost any wands (they are too big to just misplace as long as they are stored inside the bucket) and the plastic on both he bucket and the wands themselves are durable and have no cracks in them.
My one problem with the Little Kids Big No Spill Bubble Bucket is that I find it very difficult to get the top off when it is time to refill the bubble solution - so much so that I often try to just pour the liquid into one of the holes where the wands site.
Unfortunately, we had ours stored in the garage over the winter and just recently brought it out to play with and the little bit of bubble solution that was inside had dried out. I had no choice but to fight with this toy to get the top off. To open it, you must swing the handle down so that it is almost below the bottom of the toy and then pry apart the dome and the bottom. I warn you to only attempt this when the bubble solution is very low, otherwise it most likely will splash onto you.
Opening this Bubble Bucket is actually listed on the "Frequently Asked Questions" page of the company's website (www.littlekidsinc.com) and they suggest that you lower the handle and while holding the base with one hand, press up on the tabs that are located on the rim of the bucket one at a time until it opens. No matter how many times I have tried, it is always difficult for me to open. The good part about this is that my children will not accidentally open it and spill the solution out.
I have found this toy in discount chain stores and toy stores, mostly during the spring and summer months, with price tags of about $9.99 to about $14.99. You will need to purchase the bubble solution separately and fill it up before using it for the first time. As stated right on the label, it holds 32 ounces of solution, which is not included.
The Little Kids Big No Spill Bubble Bucket is a great product. It travels well, and does not easily tip over or spill in the car so that it can be taken along on trips. Three children (or adults!) can play at the same time, which makes for a lot of fun, and even more bubbles!
