| sophiasmom's Full Review: Little Tikes Giant Toy Chest 7906/7907 |
I bought this toy box so that I could attempt to organize the bazillion toys in my little girl's play room. She was 18 months at the time and already had more toys than the law allows.
I liked this toy box primarily because it was so HUGE. It is about three or so feet wide, and about a foot and a half to two feet deep. I could fit a lot more toys in it then any of the other toy boxes I bought for her.
I also liked the material the toy box was made of, the typical heavy duty Little Tykes sturdy plastic. It is impossible to break, even if your little one decides to stand inside or on top of the box, like mine did.
The lid is also completely removable, which was good in two respects. First, I could completely remove it and put it behind the toy box so my little girl could have constant access to the toy box and her toys when I wanted her to. Second, she really enjoyed playing "boat" with the lid, turning it upside down and sitting in it.
I also liked the fact that the lid secured tightly, so she couldn't really remove it by herself, for when I didn't want her dragging her toys out of it. And because it did secure tightly, I also didn't have the added worry that she would lift the lid and them slam it down on her hands.
The toy chest I purchased is white with a pink top, although they also make a blue lid. The lid is made out of the same durable plastic as the toy box, so I did not worry when my little girl played in the lid or on top of it.
Finally, my little girl really liked this toy chest, when she was big enough to dig through the whole thing, because she didn't have to wait for me to find her toys. Every night the toys would go in it, so she knew where to look the next morning and could look for herself. I greatly appreciated this as well.
The only problem with the toy box is that it was and still is, a year later, sometimes a little overwhelming for my little girl to pull her toys out of the box. The thing just holds so many toys that she seems to not know where to start sometimes. As she gets older and more mature it seems to be getting better, but it may be difficult for younger and smaller children to truly appreciate at first.
I would still recommend this toy box, because it works as a great room organizer, keeping a large volume of toys off of the floor. It does take up a bit of space, but that is to be expected because of its size and the amount it holds. All in all, it was a good purchase and I can't imagine how much worse the play room would look without it.
