| schnappsers's Full Review: Magnesium |
I read a lot of articles that tell you that a certain mineral or vitamin helps with some problem or another. If the claim seemed reasonable, the financial investment is low, and the effects of the mineral are something that could help improve my quality of life, I try it. Magnesium was one of those minerals that I took a chance on. An article I read regarding migraine triggers indicated that an insufficient amount of magnesium in the body can lead to more frequent migraines. Since I was getting migraines at the rate of 1 to 2 per week, I was ready to try just about anything to stop them.
Within a week of reading the article, I had begun taking a daily magnesium supplement. During the first 2 weeks, I didn't have a single migraine. Thinking that perhaps this was only a coincidence, I did a little experiment and stopped taking the magnesium supplements. For the first couple of days, I felt just as I had while taking the supplement. But,within a few days I felt a migraine coming on. The timing of the migraine may have been purely a coincidence, and the migraine may have happened even while taking the supplement, but I choose to be an optimist and credit my reduced number of migraines to magnesium. I still get them periodically, but now they occur at the rate of about one per month. That drastic reduction in frequency, ensures that I will continue to take the magnesium.
