What are you going to do? I mean, really. You can tell them stuff for "their own good" and protect them, but that doesn't teach them a darn thing.
I hate what happened to Adam here, I hate the loss of innocence and trust...but, like I said, what are you going to do?
Sigh.
Thanks for reading!

LOL! Well, at least there was a use for the stylus. Hey, at least you could find the stylus. Ours was lost in the black hole that is our house quite awhile ago.
Thanks for reading, Susan!

Your 6 year old sounds like my almost 6 yr old son- (Reply to this comment)
by FSUTrill
he can't conceive of cheaters and deception in the world (ironic with all that's been going on lately). He bought a toy with his own $$ that I could tell wasn't the greatest quality, but would not be swayed. It's fallen apart several times, and almost makes me cry that someone would make something that crappy and then sell it! Great review!

Bought this fool thing in Boston at a little "kiosk". Christmas day, my 11 year old opened it and was so excited. Well, the thrill is gone, but not the "stylus", she used it yesterday as a splint for her finger (she's such a drama queen!) that she thought she might have sprained. I think she's actually disappointed today that it's feeling better. That "stylus" was more useful to her taped to her finger!

Re: Excellent! (Reply to this comment)

My kids are so sweet and so good, it's hard for me to say no when they are intent on something. They aren't greedy grabby kids.
I'm glad that you stuck to your guns with your child. If I had read a review like this to my son Adam, I *might* have been able to get him to understand why it was in his best interests to not spend his money on the stuff.
But, you know, the only way I've ever learned anything in my life is by experience, so I guess this was the best way for him to learn too. I just didn't like watching it.
Thanks!

Since they are the ones who run this commercial all the time.
Great review. Glad you got a refund the second time. I was really wondering when I saw the commercials== here they go again.

And has been really bugging me to buy both of these products. I was close to giving in, since he loves to draw and put on shows, but now I will avoid them like the plague. Thanks for the tips!

When returning the product, I stapled the return packing slip to a print out of the epinion, and wrote the URL.
Beyond that, I've got some internal channels. Both QVC and my company are members of the DMA (Direct Marketing Association of America), so I have a few ways to embarass them. Plots up my sleeve!
I'll do an editorial or something if my plans pan out.
Thanks for reading (and caring),

Yeah, my friend Jen read my review a day or so ago, and she's like -- "So THAT'S what that thing was at your house. I was looking at it, I tried it, and I couldn't get it to work."
What can I say? No more infomercials for me or my kids!

I agree with you 100%. I too bought the drawing board and mine tore and the black wax oozed out. Yuck. It tore using the tool that come with it after the first 10 minutes of my 4 yr. old playing with it. What a rip off! Great review.

All parents should be as thoughtful and nurturing as you clearly are. But then, as a therapist, I'd be out of business...

I've actually played with the board, didn't know it had a name. My stepbrother's kid had it out, she couldn't get it to work, and neither could I. It annoyed me no end, and I'm glad that you gave it the review it deserved so I didn't have to.
I shudder to think how much time and energy is spent marketing useless cr@p to kids.

Happy Mother's Day to you, too!
I'm done with infomercials for kids, that's for sure. The good news is, this turned out to be a great lesson for Adam. We want to protect our kids from ever being hurt, but when they are, we might as well use it to teach a value or two.

My daughter saw those commercials too (during Pokemon or Discovery Kids). She was really hot for that drawing board thing, and I said "No Way!" I'm SO glad that I refused. She's sensitive enough to cry a river of tears. Thanks for giving me the information that I need to stand firm on this one.
For your part, you should lean on those people until they make it up to your kids. Dirty, rotten money grubbers!

I am really sorry your kids had to go through this. Right now, I am so sick of these informercial promising kids this and that with the order and they fail to come through or they charge these astronimical amounts of money for something that will be in stores in a couple of months, i.e. The Magic Pen or that Blo-Pen thing I have seen advertised numerous times.
This is an EXCELLENT Epinion! Good going...=)
