It seems whenever I get a haircut I can't leave the salon without buying an expensive and hopefully good shampoo. The last salon trip Matrix Curl Life Shampoo caught my eye with it's lime green bottle. While my hair isn't curly, it is definitely wavy. I forked out the $10 for a 13.5 oz. bottle with high hopes for this shampoo.

Reality
After using Matrix Curl Life Shampoo for 2 months, I'm glad it's almost time for another trim. I paid $10 for a shampoo that is no better or worse than a shampoo I could have gotten at a store for a lot less.
Frizz-free? Not! If I don't use Matrix Curl Life Conditioner I look like the bride of frankenstein after the electricity hits her. If I run my hand over my head a few inches static has my hair flying out to meet it. This, also, cancels out the curl defining claim. With dry, staticy hair my waves have gone out to sea. There isn't any "defining", unless you count individual fly aways as defined.
I will give it kudos for cleaning. Curl.life shampoo gets the mousse and hairspray out easily. I have thick hair, so I squeeze out a half dollar size of shampoo into my palm and start scrubbing. It lathers well and rinses out quickly.
The scent is ok. Not quite sure how to describe it, maybe a little like fresh cucumber.
For the money I paid...I expected more from this shampoo, though. If I wanted my hair to fly away, I would have bought a cheaper shampoo and walked outside into the wind. I think it's time to make an appointment with the hairdresser and see if I can find something better.
After going through the ingredients...is it any wonder my hair is dry and full of static? Alcohol and ether?
