| acongojada's Full Review: Mentholatum Pain Patch |
Pain is not fun.
I am a chef, and Yippee! It's the holiday season! (insert sarcasm here).
I do love the holidays, and the meaning behind this season, but working in this profession, the holiday season is well known as a time that will be spent working your tail off! I am on my feet sometimes for 14 hours a day, and by the end of the day, my back is my worst nightmare.
I get dull, intense pain in my lower back area. Nothing seems to work the ease the pain. I have tried aspirin, muscle pain creams, and about every type of pain reliever known to man. Nothing worked.
I was in Walgreen's, picking up ingredients for my after work dinner, (Doritos) and I took a stroll down the pain reliever aisle. I just thought I would check to see if there were any new products that I haven't tried, and I saw the package of Mentholatum Pain Patches. I never tried them, so what the heck, I threw them in the basket.
Mentholatum Pain Patches are 4 x 5˝ inch patches that contain an active ingredient of natural menthol. All you have to do is peel off the protective film, stick them on where it hurts, stand on your head, (only if you feel like it, it is not required), and you are finished. These patches can be used for the temporary relief of minor pains of muscles and joints that are related to arthritis, backaches, strains, and sprains.
After about 30 seconds, I felt the cool menthol, penetrating into my skin. If you do have sensitive skin, you may want to test a small piece of the patch on the underside of your arm first. These patches are powerful. People with sensitive skin may find them too overwhelmingly strong.
About five minutes later, after applying my patch, I noticed a significant amount of relief. These patches did more for my pain than any other product that I have tried. According to the Mentholatum Company, these patches work with your sensory receptors, and produce a counterirritant response that masks the feeling of pain that you may have. They mask the pain...They don't heal it. So of course, if you experience pain often, you should see you doctor, silly! Don't use them for a remedy.
The patch worked for me, for about 4 hours. One really fantastic thing about them is that you won't smell like a big wintergreen mint either. They have very little odor, and you also won't have to worry about getting any ointment or cream on your clothes. The patches are easily removed, without adding additional pain to your body.
These little patches are worth the cost. If you suffer from this kind of pain, and have to keep on, keeping on, give them a try. Oh, and happy holidays! And if you are going to eat at my restaurant, please make reservations and don't make them for 10pm, I'm tired. Thanks!
