The Bottom Line: Overall, the Cross Terrains are clearly a better ride, and a step up from the Grabbers. A nice tire well suited to the Mercedes ML vehicle series.

I just replaced all four tires on my Mercedes ML320 with the Cross Terrains, and have some comments to share.
First, I actually felt the General Grabbers that were installed as OEM equipment were "okay". I ran them on dirt roads/mud and also through the snow, and figured they were doing their job. When they recently wore out after 50K miles, I decided to do some research to find a fitting pair for the ML.
Initially, I thought I'd pick up some Yokohama Geolanders, as they had been rated well by a number of people as good, all around tires. But I kept hearing about the Cross Terrains. And individuals who owned Michelins and organizations that evaluated tires had good things to say about this new tire design. The Michelin site was also somewhat helpful. So the upshot was I decided to go ahead and pay the extra money to purchase a set. I should add that this is my first set of Michelins.
The upshot? While I have not had the chance to run the tires off-road or through snow, three things were immediately evident. First, the tires are significantly quieter than the Generals. Second, they are highly directional and corner extremely well. Third, I found the overall ride quality of the tires to be superior to the Generals. It seems the tires ride "softer" with better cushioning. This adds up to a more comfortable ride.
Clearly a much superior tire to the OEM General Grabbers. I think the price is a bit high though, and wonder if the Yoko Geolanders would be an acceptable substitute for those interested in saving money. Still, yep, I'm satisfied.
