Killa_T's Full Review: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 for PlayStation 2
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 could easily be the best video game of all time. It's not a run and gun blow up everybody kind of game. It is also not a X, O, X repeat kind of game either. This game takes time to learn. Basic skills must be learned and then linked into combos to be an effective player at this game.
Graphics
One of the first things that you will notice about this game is the mind blowing graphics. The levels are detailed out to an extreme like I have never seen in a game. The skaters themselves are also detailed to no end. Some of them have tatoo's that are unique to their character. The special characters are also rendered to a new level. Darth Maul is one who really stands out to me.
Gameplay
I feel sorry for anyone that is starting to play this game, that has never played Tony Hawk 1 or 2. In Tony Hawk 1 the basic skills of the grind, flip, and grab moves were learned. Then in 2 the manual was added giving the player even better combos. Now in 3 the revert / manual was added to make this game quite possibly the most addicting thing ever.
Levels
The different levels in Tony Hawk 3 kind of let me down a bit. They seem to be alot smaller than alot of the levels in the previous THPS's. I'll give you my recommendations. For giant combos and lots of points you need to skate on over to LA. If style and sweet moves is your thing you might want to swing on over to rio. If you are an old school Tony Hawk pro you need to unlock the warehouse (beat the game with 4 people) and let it eat.
