spankie's Full Review: MidiLand S4 7100 5 Speakers
Despite minor problems, which include a buzzing sound in the subwoofer even at low volume settings and easily damaged speakers, this system is not all that bad. I payed about $159 for this system, and i got it from Buy.com. There was a recall about a month after i made the purchase. I had already noticed that there is a buzzing sound, and i was hoping that the new systems they were sending would have the problem fixed. Unfortunately the problem was left alone. As was mentioned in a PCGamer issue about a year ago, MidiLand's moto is "If it ain't broke.. don't fix it."
I had dropped one of the speakers about a week ago, although it was not rendered useless, the parts inside the plastic casing fell appart. I've already taken it appart and will restore it's functionality as soon as i have time.
The sound is nice, highs and lows are nicely defined. The buzzing sound is un-noticable if u have the subwoofer sitting on the floor, or if you are more than 5 feet away.
I've been enjoying this system along with my samsung mini component system ( both connected to SoundBlaster Live! on my pc.) The S4 7100 has a nice switch in the back which allows you to choose whether you want to spread a stero signal throughout the 6 peace system, or have 2 inputs for 4 channel surround, or even 4 channels and a subwoofer.
