I've really been working on my skin lately and while I know it's a losing battle, my mid-life crisis insists I keep trying. Old age will not be denied. Why a mid-life crisis now and why am I focusing on skin care? I woke up from a deep sleep and realized I'd settled into the age of maturity. What happens to your skin when you start to age? Think wrinkles, dryness, brown spots, etc. Splish, splash, I've been having a flash!
I'm a compulsive nail biter. Even as a child I bit my nails and carried the bad habit into adulthood. For a few years, I thought I had broke this ugly habit but when stressed, my habit returned.
I've found I could stop biting when I had artificial nails on, but when they were removed, the habit was back. It was either keep the ugly nails or keep the gel nails. I chose the gel nails.
Vitamin E oil was used to help keep my cuticles soft and heal some serious damage.
One of my cousins has the same problem and when we were talking about our favorite treatment(s), she told me about Nailtiques Oil Therapy 1/2oz 14.8ml Body Hand, Foot & Nail Care. She had several bottles (she buys in bulk as does my oldest daughter) and said she'd send one for me to try. Last month she retired to Florida but before her move from Ohio, she sent a bottle.
Since my nails were healed from using Vitamin E oil, I thought Nailtiques Oil Therapy would work about the same and it does but I like Nailtiques somewhat better. It has a more pleasant smell. It's easily applied with the brush which comes in the bottle. Sometimes I'll use too much and will rub it on the top of my hands.
Both the Vitamin E oil and Nailtiques Oil Therapyare oily; oily and slippery to smooth on. I'll massage the oil into my cuticles, and then, if I'm in a hurry, I'll apply some lotion to my hands for faster absorption.
A difference in both products which I've noticed is Nailtiques Oil Therapy doesn't seem to wash away as fast as my Vitamin E. Both will wash away as the day goes by and depending on how often I wash my hands (which is frequent due to N1H1), but Nailtiques seems to keep my cuticles softer (maybe the results were just better). I really work on my cuticles so maybe it's a combination of the many products I use.
Oil is oil and I suppose the choice, or bottom line, is which I prefer? Which works best on my mature skin?
I finally have nails (gel nails) which look good and create a desire to wear my rings more often.
