LILvoyce's Full Review: Nestle Rich Hot Chocolate Mix
I really like Nestles Rich Chocolate flavored Hot Cocoa Mix. You can purchase this item in the 7.12-Ounce Box which contains 12 premeasured packets, or you can also purchase this product in the 1.73 ounce canister. I prefer to purchase it in the canister because it seems to last forever. On the canister it claims to make 39 servings.
Canister VS. The 7.12 oz box:
I would much rather prefer the canister. Not only does a can seem to last me longer than a month, but it is much more cost effective purchase in the larger can. I can get 12 servings for $2 in the box, versus 39 servings in the can for $3.99 or around that price depending on where I shop.
I also have large and extra large coffee mugs. I don't get enough cocoa out of one package. I can heap as much as I would like in my mugs and it seems to be less hassle. For my large mugs I add about 3 tablespoons to my mug. I like it mixed with boiling water, and then add a splash of milk for an extra creamy flavor.
Taste:
I really like this cocoa. The taste is rich and really chocolatey. I prefer no marshmallows. I want to taste just the rich flavor of the chocolate. This cocoa is no frills, and just as good as the more expensive brands.
About the Product:
I like that that in the canister, that even if I don't use this entire can up right away or within the month, I don't experience any clumping like I have had with other brands.
The serving size is 2TBS. I do prefer 3. Each 2TB serving size is 80 calories if prepared with water, 3.g grams of fat, 2g sat fat, trans fat 0, no cholesterol, 170mg sodium, 15 grams of carb, less than 1 gram of finer, 12 grams of sugar, and less than one gram of protien.
The package directions are listed on the box and the can for preparing with water or milk. You can also make your cocoa in the microwave if desired.
I prefer to make my cocoa with the water since I really shouldn't be consuming products with so many carbs. I do feel less guilty consuming a mug of this cocoa then I would grabbing a chocolate bar. It seems as if I HAVE to have my chocolate fix like most women do once a month. I am very satisfied with my one cup of cocoa on occassion.
My children love to consume this product on a daily basis. Usually my son makes a cup in the morning with his breakfast. Sometimes I will make this cocoa for my 3 year old who needs to consume a bit more calories since she is so tiny. I mix it with whole milk when I make it for her. I don't add boiling hot water when I make hers. I use regular tap water which requires a bit more stirring to get the powder mixed, or I will take the whole milk and warm it up just a bit and then mix the powder in it. Either way she will drink it.
I also wanted to note that on the package it states that this cocoa is 99.9 caffeine free, andj 100 percent gluten free.
Overall
Everyone in the family seems to like this product. I will be a repeat customer as the price is right, it is convenient to make, and my entire family enjoys the taste of this cocoa.
