Too much "Shimmer" Hype, but overall, decent

Pros: There is eventually a shimmer, nice fragrance
Cons: Shimmer is slight, potential to leave a residue, has to dry on skin
The Bottom Line: If you want a shimmer like the one in the commercial, then I don't recommend it because it will be nothing like that.

| gorjusvirgo921's Full Review: Nivea Silky Shimmer Lotion |
When you first watch the commercial on television, it's really appealing. The model appears to have this REALLY intense radiance, and her body seems to just glow as soon as she applies a portion of the lotion to a body part. Not to mention the soft-toned voice of the woman verbally advertising the product. Add that in with the calming spa- like music in the background of the commercial and at that point, I was definitely ready to "experience" a whole new "natural radiance". Well, I didn't have the same experience at all. I mean, of course, we, as consumers know not to expect our experience with the product to be EXACTLY the same as the commercial, but-- we hope that it's not too far off. The lotion really only has a noticeable shimmer if you apply it twice-- and the most shimmer is on the palm of your hands. It's not at all like a body cream so it does take a minute or two to dry-- unless you want a gold residue on your clothes. Actually, I had used it as sort of a bronzer on my cheekbones -- I had to basically dab it on though to get that effect. All in all, I would say that it is extremely over-hyped in the commercial. There is a shimmer-- BUT only in certain angles of light. I actually ended up using the lotion for fragrance purposes only, after a while. Would I recommend it-- only if you want a very subtle shine, that takes a little time.
