After seeing several ads for Nivea Silky Shimmer Lotion in magazines and reading a few reviews here on Epinions, I eventually made a trip to Target to purchase this lotion. I was drawn to pictures in the magazines of beautiful glowing golden skin. Oh, I could not wait to add some glow to my skin.
About the Product
From what I can tell, Nivea Silky Shimmer Lotion is a regular body lotion that has a slight shimmering effect to it. There is no actual glitter, but the lotion is designed to leave your skin glowing.
I had some problems with Nivea's website so I got this information from drugstore.com:

Packaging and Price
Packaged in a wide white shimmery plastic bottle, Nivea Silky Shimmer Lotion is sold in a 6.8 oz. bottle. The bottle has a very subtle shimmer to it with the traditional blue wording. There is a white pop-up top that makes dispensing quick and easy.
I have seen this product in Target, Walmart, Walgreens, and most drugstores. It is also sold online at drugstore.com. I purchased mine at Target for aruond $7. Currently drugstore.com is selling bottles for $6.49 with a free travel cosmetic bag thrown in as a free gift.

Directions for Use
Normally for a body lotion, I would not include directions, but there are a few things you should know before you use this lotion. Apply this lotion as you would any body lotion, but wait until it absorbs completely in your skin and dries before touching clothes or furniture. I have never had any problems with the lotion transferring to fabric, but I did find a dried glob of it on my hand that I hadn't rubbed in. It dried a light beige color and stood out against my skin. Make sure you rub this lotion in completely.
My Experience
I did read the directions, as well as other reviews, before I used this lotion so I knew how to apply it and what to expect. After my shower, I slathered this lotion on like I would any other lotion. I was a little surprised to see the light beige colored lotion, but it goes on and dries clear like any other lotion. I waited a couple minutes to get dressed like the directions suggested.
In the meantime, I noticed that Nivea Silky Shimmer Lotion had a very soft scent. It smells like the other Nivea lotions I have used. It's not floral or perfumey, but it's very soft and pleasant. It would not clash with perfume or body spray. The scent is very soft and understated.
I also noticed that like the other Nivea lotions I have used, it is an excellent moisturizer. This lotion absorbs quickly into the skin and leaves my skin very soft and smooth. It is not greasy or slimy. It moisturizes my skin all day and leaves me very soft.
But this is no ordinary body lotion. Nivea has added a little bonus. The shimmer is what I love about this lotion. After you apply the lotion, don't expect to see sparkles or glitter. You will be disappointed. You really have to be outside in the sunlight to appreciate this lotion. It is a beautiful effect, but very subtle. If you want chunky glitter, there are plenty of teeny-bopper products you can purchase.
Once I stepped into the sunlight I could see how pretty much lotion made my skin. My skin had a very very subtle gold shimmer to it. It caught the light and my skin absolutely was glowing. It was fabulous. I loved how the light reflected off my skin. It made my slight tan look better. It made my skin look healthy and vibrant. It just adds that special something to my skin.
I use this lotion on days I know I'm going to be in the sun. Since you can't see it much when you're not in the sun, I use other lotions on days I'm stuck indoors. However, I love to wear it to weddings or parties when I'm going to be a little dressed up. I have worn it on my legs to help my near non-existant tan. But I love the way it looks on my arms, shoulders, and chest. It shimmers and catches the light beautifully.
Also, in case you're wondering, the shimmer doesn't wear off. It lasts all day. The shimmer stays put and wears evenly on my skin.
Final Thoughts
This is the best lotion for summer. It will make your skin glow in the sun and keep you moisturized. Nivea has produced a high quality moisturizer that is fun and pretty as well. Get it before summer is over!
