Pros: very small phone, prepaid service, great for emergencies
Cons: airtime cards are expensive
The Bottom Line: Handy little cell phone for emergencies. But if you plan to talk on your cell phone a lot, you should get a phone with a monthly calling plan.

| LuckyLucille's Full Review: Nokia 252 Cell Phone |
We wanted a phone that we could carry in the car in case we needed it for an emergency, so we purchased the Nokia 252P Prepaid TracFone cellular phone. We decided on this one because it was a prepaid phone, and didn't want to create any additional monthly bills.
Packaged with the phone was a card with 10 free minutes of wireless airtime (a $7.99 value), activation instructions, an owner's manual, a warranty card, an AC charger, a rebate slip (you can choose a $30 rebate check or 120 units of wireless airtime) and a charger that you can plug into a cigarette lighter in your car. We also purchased an additional 30-minute airtime card ($19.99).
What we like most about this phone is that as long as you use your phone at least once within a 30-day period, the minutes you have accumulated on it will not expire. My sister's cellular plan forces her to use her minutes within a certain time frame, or else they expire. I must note that you can only use TracFone wireless airtime cards with this phone.
It took about an hour to charge the phone battery the very first time, but now it is usually charged within one half hour. When we are going out, we charge it using the car cigarette lighter charger (it seems to recharge the battery much faster than when we do it at home).
The phone is very small (about 6 and 1/2 inches long, 2 inches wide and weighs a little over 6 ounces). It's small enough to carry in your pocket or a small purse. You can set it to one of 6 ring tunes, including a vibrating ring. It has a caller-ID feature, but we opt not to use that. Signal strength and battery indicators are displayed on the screen of this phone. Your phone battery is supposed to endure up to 2 hours and 45 minutes of talk time, or 48 hours of standby time. We have only had to recharge the battery once every 2 weeks because we don't use it that often. And we don't leave it on standby, so I can't comment on the battery life using this feature.
Even though it is a little expensive to use this phone, it is still a nice convenience to have on hand so that we don't have to use phone booths at night, or if you don't have any spare change.
