| Stormtrooper1's Full Review: Nokia 6162 Cell Phone |
I recently switched Cellular Providers, to AT&T Wireless, and when I did, my Nokia 5160 would no longer work.
So I did my research into the 2 phones I was interested in, the Nokia 6160, and the 6162.
The only difference in these two phones is the presence of the flip on the front of the 6162.
The flip really interested me, because I remember the Old Motorola Flip Phones, when they were cool, no I'm not that old, but my Mom had one. I’m actually a College Student.
What really sold me on the 6162 is the Active flip, the phone rings; you open it up, and talk. When you’re done talking, close the flip, and the call ends.
With the 6160, like my old 5160, push a button to make a call, and push a button to end the call, plus if you didn’t want the phone to make calls while in your pocket or bag, you had to lock the keys. (I don’t know how many times I forgot to lock the keys and my phone called my aunt, being she was the first name in my phonebook.)
I just read a review of the 6162 here by another member, where they said with a hands free kit the flip go in the way. I have found this to be untrue. The Nokia 6162 has "Profiles" in it. When you plug in a hands free kit it makes a Hands free Profile. You can set the phone to act a certain way ONLY when this mode is selected (it is automatically selected when you plug in the kit).
I have my phone set up to automatically answer calls after the first ring, so I don’t have to reach over and open the flip, I also Have my "Active Flip" setting turned off. With Active Flip set to off the flip changes from a integral part of phone operation to nothing more than a plastic key cover, so I can open the phone, dial, and then close the phone.
This phone also does 2 way text Messaging, which is a very nice feature.
I can say this is down right the best cellular telephone I have ever owned.
