| jngjng's Full Review: NordicTrack Exercise Bike TRL 625 |
It was time to get everyone in shape. I wanted the elliptical, she wanted the bike. She won. We ended up with two Nordic Track devices: the Nordic Track Treadmill and the Bike.
The treadmill has been excellent, never failed once since the day we got it.
The bike was the complete opposite. Never worked from day one. The display would not work, even with a fresh set of batteries. The display would only show 0mph, even though you would be pedaling like there was no tomorrow. Called Nordic Track and they told me to take the front end apart and adjust the little sensor which detects the magnet on the wheel. Okay, adjustment made, and it was good to go. A week later, tried it again. Again the display didn't work. New batteries, and it still showed 0 mph. Adjusted sensor again, this time with no success. Nordic Track sent out a bunch of replacement parts and sent an installer over to fix. Again the bike was okay. A month later, tried the bike again. No luck, back to square one.
The problem is that if the sensor isn't working, the bike is useless. There are no speed indicators, and the tension band doesn't work.
So, Sears will take back the bike and we may end up with the elliptical after all.
This is the third Nordic Track item that we had purchased, and we only had issues with this one. We had great success with Nordic Track Customer Service and they were always helpful and accommodating.
Maybe the bike was a lemon. It happens. Better that than the treadmill...
