What is real tasty and smells sweeter than a Rose, and it comes out of your oven? Why it's a cake that's baked in a Nordic Ware Rose Bundt cake pan. This Rose Bundt Cake Pan is so intricate in details that it's so easy to achieve a beautiful Rose shaped cake.
I purchased this Nordic Ware Rose Bundt Cake pan a while ago. I have 2 other Nordic Ware pans. A Bavaria Bundt pan and a Wildflower cake pan. I really like the Nordic Ware pans, and I've been looking for this Nordic Ware Rose pan for sometime now and finally found one in our BonTon store on sale for $24.99. Couldn't wait to get the Bundt Pan home that day because I was real eager to try it out.
FEATURES:
10 Cup Capacity
Heavy duty Cast Aluminum with intricate details
Dark non stick surface which gives a quick release
Made in USA
Measures 9 inches in diameter by 4 inches deep
Comes with a pound cake recipe
The first cake that I baked in the bundt pan was a boxed Pound cake mix. The cake came out with a very delicate shape of a unfolding Rose. The petal shaped cake really gave the cake a really elegant appearance. But I still wasn't quite satisfied with the cake yet. I wanted to see color in my Rose cake, so the next day I went to the market and picked up a Duncan Hines white cake mix.
After mixing up all the ingredients I added red food coloring to the batter. I wanted a little color in my rose cake. It didn't come out looking like a red rose, but it did come out looking like a nice delicate pink rose.
I now was happy with my pink creation. My husband thought it looked real nice, and he wanted me to make a chocolate rose cake next, which I did.
PREPARING THE PAN FOR BAKING:
First I washed out the Bundt Pan in hot soapy water and then dried it thoroughly with a towel, making sure that I got all of the water out of each rose petal crevice in the pan.
Now it was ready for greasing and flouring the pan. It's important to properly grease and flour the Rose Bundt pan, because of all of the intricate detailed crevices. Even though it does have a non stick surface, you want the cake to come out looking as good as it tastes.
I've always used Wilton Cake Release for greasing all of my baking pans. It's a creamy liquid that greases and flours in one easy application. I have seen a Pam Vegetable spray that does contain flour also in the market, which I'm sure would be good also for greasing the Bundt pan too.
All I did was apply a little of the Wilton Release into the inside of the Rose Bundt pan and took my pastry brush and worked it into each delicate crevice. Any excess liquid that remained, I just blotted it out with a paper towel. If the pan is properly greased the cake will slide out perfectly while leaving a beautiful shaped Rose design.
Any boxed cake mix can be used in the Rose Bundt pan, by just following the directions on the box for Bundt Pans. If you have a favorite cake recipe of your own, give it a try in this Nordic Ware Rose Bundt Pan. I have a Tomato Soup cake recipe that I want to try in the Rose bundt pan. I'm sure it will come out looking pretty nice also.
The Nordic Ware Rose Bundt Pan will hold up to 10 cups of batter, enough to make a beautiful and festive cake for 10 people to enjoy.
OTHER GOODIES THAT CAN BE MAKE IN THE ROSE BUNDT PAN:
Breads
Frozen Desserts
Gelatin Desserts
Molded Salads
Because of the non stick surface in the Rose Bundt pan, these goodies will come out with all the Rose petal crevices intact. I made a Strawberry fruited Gelatin Dessert for Father's day and it came out really swell.
The Nordic Ware Rose Bundt Cake Pan is made out of a very heavy Cast aluminum and is not flimsy like some other cake pans. No need to worry about this Bundt pan warping either.
To eliminate air bubbles in the cake batter, it's important to slowly pour the batter into the Bundt pan. After the Bundt pan is filled with the batter, I just pick up the Bundt pan and gently knock it on my counter a few times. This will make any air bubbles rise up and away from the edge of the cake. You don't want any air bubbles showing up on any part of the Rose petals in the cake.
Before placing the Bundt pan in the oven, I take my spatula and gently push the batter to the outside and into the crevices of the pan. This will insure me a more even detailed cake.
I've also found out because the Bundt pan is dark in color, that I have to lower my oven temperature by 25 degrees.
WARRANTY:
The Nordic Bundt Cake Pan comes with a Lifetime Warranty. If the Bundt pan is taken care of properly, and you don't use any metal utensils in it, harsh scouring pads or misuse it in any way, I'm sure that you won't have to use the Warranty.
CLEANING:
Hand washing is recommended. The Nordic Ware Rose Bundt Pan cleans up very nicely and quickly by washing it out in hot soapy water with a soft sponge.
COOLING THE ROSE CAKE:
I've found that the cakes that I have baked in the Rose Bundt pan usually take about 15 minutes to be cooled enough to remove from the Bundt pan. The cake can be placed on a wire rack to cool, or it can be placed on the neck of a wine bottle. I have a 3 tiered wire cooling rack that I use. This way the air can circulate underneath the cake as well.
Cooling is a big issue. The cake will come out in pieces if improperly cooled.
REMOVING THE CAKE FROM THE PAN:
After the cake has cooled enough to remove, I take the cake pan and tap it gently on my counter and give it a gentle shake also. I do this a couple of times. When I feel the cake loosening up some I can then place my cake plate on top of the cake and turn it over onto the plate. I've always had my Bundt cakes come out in one piece doing it this way.
I forgot to mention that there are 5 Rose leaves that are around the base of the Rose petals also. I have taken green frosting and filled in the leaves, which made the cake really stand out more. When I had made my pink Rose cake, just this little touch did make a nice presentation to my table.
The Nordic Ware Rose Bundt Pan cake design is intricate in detail and comes out of the pan looking like a delicate unfolding Rose in full bloom. When a cake tastes delicious it will be more delicious when it has a eye appealing design.
CONS:
This Nordic Ware Rose Bundt pan makes such beautiful cakes, that I've found find that I really have to do a lot more baking then I usually do when using this Rose Bundt Pan. The cakes are gobbled up so quickly, that they don't last very long.
MY FINAL THOUGHTS:
This Nordic ware Rose Bundt Pan will turn any ordinary box cake mix into something special. I can make just an ordinary cake if I wish, in one of my other cake pans, or I can turn a boxed cake mix into a special Rose cake in this Rose Bundt Cake pan. The delicate unique Rose petals that are always released from this cake pan will really dress up any table for any occasion. I recommend this Nordic Ware Rose Bundt Pan. Once you've tried baking in it, you'll wonder why you didn't purchase one of these Nordic Ware Rose Bundt pans sooner.
