I have always loved black dogs, too, which has seemed a little odd. We just got a black cocker spaniel puppy and have gradually transitioned him over to Nutro Natural Choice Puppy dry food. The transition has gone really smoothly. We did it at the recommendation of a friend with a beautiful (despite being white!) elderly Samoyed, who said that it always kept her dog healthy and her coat beautiful and that she has recommended it over the years especially to people with dogs with long fur or hair and she has noticed improvements in the condition of their coats.
So far we're happy with it and our puppy loves it.

Yep, Bev of My Heart... hay-free pups are a top concern. I love black dogs, I'm not sure why other than the fact that my first pup was a non-descript little black fuzzball.
I really like this food for pregnant and nursing mother dogs (the censor won't let me use the correct term). The high nutrient quality really makes an evident difference when those adorable little butterballs pop out.
I want another puppy... sigh...
