The Bottom Line: I had no luck with this stuff. It did nothing to moisturize my skin.

| daisymae76's Full Review: Olay Moisturinse In Shower Body Lotion |
Since having my baby 2 weeks ago, I have realized that my leisurely showers are going to be a thing of the past for a while. I had heard great things about Olay Moisturinse in Shower Body Lotion so I picked up a bottle in the Normal to Dry Skin formula as my skin just requires an average amount of moisturizing. There is a formula for Extra Dry Skin as well. I was very excited to be able to use this quickly in the shower and not have to worry about spending several minutes applying lotion after I got out of the shower. I've been using it for almost 2 weeks now and I'm definitely not impressed.
About the Product
Olay has a revolutionary way to softer, smoother skin that will change the way you moisturize. Stop applying and reapplying body lotion - and start using the power of your shower to moisturize your skin like never before. Like a hair conditioner, Olay In Shower Body Lotion is applied onto skin in the shower after cleansing, then rinsed off. Specially designed to work with the humidity and warmth of your shower. It infuses skin with nourishing moisture at the ideal moment for moisturizing skin. The result is softer, smoother, more nourished skin.

Price and Packaging
Olay Moisturinse comes in a white bottle that stands on a flip top lid for easy dispensing. I find the bottle to be purely functional and not attractive in any way. It has the Olay logo on it and would not stand out among the other drugstore products.
Each bottle contains 8.4 oz. of the the thick white lotion. I bought it for around $4 at Target.
My Experience
I used this the very first chance I got. I flipped open the bottle and squeezed a decent sized amount onto my palm. It was thick and white and reminded me of hair conditioner. It smelled like a typical Olay product- feminine yet clean at the same time. It's not my favorite scent, but not bad.
I followed the directions and smoothed the lotion on my body. You need to use a good dollop for each body part you moisturize. You'll go through a bottle pretty quickly because you need to use a lot to cover your body. It feels thick going on, but quickly slides away once it hits the water. When I was finished applying it, I rinsed off. It came off easily. Since this was the last thing I did in the shower, I turned off the water, and patted my self dry. The directions say to "pat" self dry so I was careful to do this. Maybe rubbing will wipe all the moisture away?
I immediately noticed that the Olay scent lingers strongly on my skin. I wish it was a little less strong because it's not something I want to smell like all day. The scent lasts most of the day so if you wear perfume or body spray, this stuff could interfere with your other scents.
How did my skin feel? In a word- dry. My skin was crying for some lotion afterwards. I toughed it out and didn't apply any just to give the stuff a chance to work. As the day went on, I could barely stand to touch my skin. I noticed my knees and elbows were especially dry. My husband even noticed it. He sat down on the couch next me and put his hand on my leg. He gave me a funny look and the proceeded to try to write the word "dry" on my leg with his fingernail.
The back of the bottle says that I would have noticeable results in 5 days. It's been 2 weeks and all I notice is that my skin lacks moisture and feels horrid. I've cracked and gone back to using regularly lotion after my shower. My skin is much happier and I am too.
I thought that maybe I could use this In Shower Body Lotion as a shaving cream or something. I feel so bad throwing it away. I tried shaving with it, but all I got was a clogged razor. Oh well.
So no more Olay Moisturinse In Shower Body Lotion for me. I'm going back to regular lotions and that's ok. I guess for me there are no short cuts when it comes to moisturizing.
