Yes - that really bugs me too - having the name of they city and state right under the name of the restaurant wouldn't hurt.
Ole's is up here in the Bay Area - east of SF - right next to Oakland.

But where is it? (Reply to this comment)

It has always bugged me that EP doesn't include location information about restaurants on their review pages, so if the reviewer forgets to include it, there's no way of knowing where on the planet the place is.
So where is Oles?

Loved how you wrote this review! Sounds a bit like one of my favorite places in Chicago.
Nicely done!

You put me to shame. Alameda isn't my stomping grounds, and the only breakfast spots I know are Ole's, Jim's, and the Velvet Grill. Would like to discover others.
It's just that their waffles got me all worked up.
(What's your take on Speiskammer?)

Phil - you're too funny - but that's why I read restaurant reviews after I've eaten...

Noel - I can't make proper waffles to save my life either.
I miss the pink and orange Pancake House - my fave was the Pancake Sandwich, which I still re-create every time I have a short stack and fried egg.

You're too kind. Believe me, I can eat many waffles. Perhaps that's why I was also fascinated with those fat camps.

You blew this one, grrrl! (Reply to this comment)

I live in Alameda. I know the good Alameda diners. And Ole's is not a good diner.
I was frankly going to leave my comments in a response to your review, but I feel so strongly about it I'm going to have to post my own contrary review this time. Nothing personal, it's just that, well, Alameda is kind of my turf, and it galls me to see one of the blights on Park Street garnering a favorable review, especially since Alameda has several other diner-type breakfast spots that are leagues better than Ole's.
I love your reviews, Grrl, but you missed the mark by a country mile this time. I hope I've made myself clear.

I Love Waffles For Breakfast. (Reply to this comment)

The problem is, our cook just can't seem to get it right. Neither can I, for that matter. I've been taking my sons to Pancake House for breakfast every Sunday, just like my father used to take my brother and I (well, he wouldn't take us every Sunday, but often enough). Still order the same thing as when I was 9: bacon waffles. I just wish they used real maple syrup....
Best,
N

I like waffles - I mean, really, how can you not? And there's something retro and charming about a place that specializes in them - especially if they do 'em right. I was so thrilled when I traveled to the south and finally got to sample a Waffle House waffle - which was okay, but certainly didn't warrant the excitement I had built up for it.
Hard to imagine, nevertheless, you eating more than one waffle. Then again, I was seated when I met you.
