Pros: Hours of fun, helps children learn to manipulate numbers and color sets
Cons: Can wear your brain out thinking out moves, but I don't see this really as a con.

| bermudabum's Full Review: Original Rummikub |
Tiles colored with bright paint stand out in the night as the overhead light glares down into the late hours of the evening at my house. My family, like most, plays games and this one can tease your mind and drive you crazy. What looks like an innocent little game is really so much more.
If you are familiar with rummy or other games that make sets and runs picking up on this game is going to be easy, but not to worry because the possibilities is almost as endless as the hours you are going to enjoy this game. The games is made with stands to hold your tiles which you draw to make sets or runs consisting of at least 3 tiles of the four available colors numbered 1-13 and just for good measure even includes smiley faces to use as wild tiles.
Begin each turn by drawing from the available tiles, most people place the tiles into a dark colored bag or placing them upside down and mixing them so they are in effect shuffled and unrecognizable. Then if you have enough points you qualify, that is to say you are able to make enough points from within your own tiles you can begin to manipulate not just your tiles but the tiles of any others already placed on the board.
The board is nothing more than any flat surface as you begin to steal tiles from one place and move it to another so long as any remaining tiles still form a set. You will go bonkers trying to figure out just how to get rid of that last tile on your rack before the next person does.
The game makes for a perfect evening for 2 to 4 players but be warned if your brain is tired it wont matter how good you are because this game is going to test not just your skill but make you think moves upon moves well in advance just to discover that when your turn comes back around that someone has completely ruined it for you with the placement of a single tile.
The game makes for a great evening of fun and also helps children to learn matching and number skills. The manufacturer suggest the game for those 8 and up but my daughter began playing with us at age six and with a little help learning to make sets and the like has enjoyed playing with us.
