Re: We have... (Reply to this comment)

Very cool...
I used to work at Linen's N Things in college, and a customer told me she liked to eat ice cream out of Demitasse sets (espresso cups). I thought she was crazy but now I find myself eating ice cream out of my Japanese tea cups!
Anyway, thanks for commenting - you're the first person I've met who also has a spade (or at least knows what it is)!

We have... (Reply to this comment)

... one of these as well. I can't remember a time that I DIDN'T thank God for having it!
Now if only ice cream wasn't so good perhaps my waist line would be in better form. *grin
Cheers,

Hehe... I didn't even notice that! The funny thing is, it came right from the Oxo website! I generally don't serve my food out of the dishwasher; I prefer countertops!

Re: OXO Ice Cream Spade (Reply to this comment)
by Javelina, in Home and Garden
That's good to hear! Did your new spade get discolored too? We've just had ours forever. I have heard that Oxo is good about replacing stuff, and that they will even send a replacement if you send them a digital picture (without having to send the actual item via mail). I wonder why, though, that the metal gets discolored.
Thanks for sharing! :)

I would never use it in the dishwasher. (Reply to this comment)
by counsel
Well, the review did say "this ice cream spade is not recommended for use in the dishwasher."
My ice cream always melts when I put it in there, which is what I have to do if I want to use the scooper in the dishwasher. Plus, the taste of that dishwashing liquid can really put you off Homemade Vanilla. I had to stop that long ago.

OXO Ice Cream Spade (Reply to this comment)
by luvs2bake
Hi Javelina, I CAN vouch for OXO's customer service. I purchased this spade at my local grocery store and after just a couple of washings the spade started to discolor. I don't even have a dishwasher so that wasn't the problem. I emailed OXO customer service and before the day was over had a reply from them asking for my address. Two days later a new spade was at my door. They had sent it by FedEx which surely cost more than the spade cost me! I've almost replaced all my cooking utensils with OXO and recommend them to everyone I know!
