It's kind of a little known world, the world of beer connoiseurism. I was drinking with a wine steward last night, who told me he knew nothing about beer that's why he always drinks Coors Light. I was surprised that a wine connoisseur who drinks beer regularly didn't have even a fair knowledge.

The trouble with stereotypes is right there in beer advertising, they don't exactly paint the best picture of a beer drinker. There's the Michelob Light commercial where the guy acts like a connoisser and thinks he's drinking an import. Guinness ran a series of commercials in England titled Pure Genius, as well as a series of thought provokers starring Rutger Hauer. They certainly raised some awareness of beer sophistication.

They need to get better beers in the movies too, everyone drinks Bud. The movie industry should take note of your recommendations.
