Pros: Great likeness, super-poseable, one of the coolest toys I own.
Cons: None that I could find--Floyd is awesome. So his his toy.
The Bottom Line: I love these toys, but it's not a blind love, baby--they've worked hard to earn my love. And I'll work hard to keep on loving them.

| JediKermit's Full Review: Palisades Muppets Series 2: Floyd Pepper |
Ive obviously been a big fan of the Muppet Show action figure line from Palisades Toys from the first time I even heard they were being made. Then, when I actually saw the figures with my own eyes, it was love at first sight. If youre even a casual fan of the Muppets, you know that the Electric Mayhem is the coolest of the coola band led by Dr. Teeth, with groovy chick Janice on lead guitar, Floyd on bass, Zoot playing his sax, and Animals drumsthey were unstoppable. And now Im getting them all in action figure form! With the addition of bassist Floyd Pepper to my band, Im one step closer to having them allthe first time in my more than ten years of Muppet Collecting that I will have achieved that goal.
Sergeant Floyd Pepper is the very definition of a hip musician, 70s style. His name may be taken from the Sgt. Pepper Beatles album, and (I think) Pink Floyd, and hes a rocker through and through. On The Muppet Show, his cackle usually followed a dig at Kermit, Fozzie, or his favorite target, Miss Piggy. Although his musical stylings were usually heard with the Electric Mayhem, Floyd also had some memorable solo numbers, including While My Guitar Gently Weeps. He also has the singular pleasure of being the soul mate of that groovy chick Janice, with the always-shut eyes and the spaghetti blonde hair. Fer sure, for SURE!
Palisades Toys version of Floyd takes a good character and makes him into a great action figure. The first thing youll notice about Floyd is that hes taller and skinner than most of the Muppets weve seen so far; nearly as tall as Fozzie Bear, but much thinner, so he really stands out. Hes wearing his red Sgt Pepper jacket, which is torn off at the sleeves, exposing a darker undershirt underneath; hes wearing faded blue jeans that are tucked into soft brown boots of the kind that only rockers can really wear. Im just not cool enough. Theres also a green hat which is removable, but theres a magnet in the hat and embedded in Floyds head that keeps the hat firmly attached until you move it. Smart move.
The sculpt on his face is dead-on, successfully capturing in hard plastic the look of a puppet thats mostly foam and fly-away ostrich plumes. The Floyd puppet has these great eyes that are able to squint and blink, even though theyre completely black and look more like sunglasses than anything else. Palisades sculpted them in mid-squint, like Floyd is either enjoying a good joke, or jamming on his guitar. His hair and eyebrows are also well-sculptedgetting some of that fly-away look in there without becoming a mess.
Because Floyd is foremost a musician, and I bought him to add one more member to the Electric Mayhem, hes gotta come with his guitar right? Right. Floyd comes with a red bass guitar, which is connected to his amp with a wire. Theres even a little pleather guitar strap that hooks to his guitar, so hes ready to play in a freaky little coffee house. If you even do that with a bass.
If youve picked up ANY of these figures, collecting the band is a must. And all of them, including Floyd, come with color variants of both their clothing and their instruments, so you can have the Electric Mayhem and the Bizarro Electric Mayhem (I assume, with NO sex or drugs or rock n roll). Floyds variant comes dressed in a blue jacket instead of a red one, and I call him Civil War Floyd. These are going fast, but you can still find them at several stores, including Toys R Us, Media Play, Suncoast, Electronics Boutique, and many comics and collectibles shops. Start the hunt todayyoull be glad you did.
