I was hanging out with some programmer friends in our office one day, and I made sure to note what kind of handheld PDA's they had. I figured these guys would have the best of the best, right? Nope. One guy had a IIIc he'd bought new 2 years ago and hardly ever used, and the other had an m105. So I thought about what I NEEDED versus what I WANTED, and what I really needed was a central place to collect all of the appointments, birthdays, anniversaries, phone numbers and addresses scattered across my home and work PCs and approximately 14,000 scraps of paper.
The m105 is the most inexpensive in the line that still has 8 MB of memory. I like having all my phone numbers kept (neatly) at hand. I also take a medication every day, so I've programmed the date book to set off an alarm to remind me. There are dozens of freeware programs you can download from the Internet too and install via the HotSync button.
If you want to add Internet capability to this, I believe you have to buy a separate kit, but I don't really need to surf the web or check e-mail online. I'm happy enough to play with my Tetris clone game on long commutes home.
