Cons: Slow service, not enough memory, not all internet capablities allowed, black and white
The Bottom Line: It's great if your a simple person just using it to organize your life. If you're software hog, dont get it. If you're an internet junkie, you'll be disappointed.
I made the mistake of buying it when it first came out like a year ago and paid $400 for it! I believe now it is under $200! I wanted to upgrade from my m100 which was the most basic PDA you can get with hardly enough memory (2MB) so I thought the 8MB i705 would be enough for me but it really isnt- not if you are a power house user like me. I keep all my financial and diet plans in there so I was able to get some really need software for it (Splash suite is great! includes finanical, photo, and shopping organization). The problem is I always want more so 8MB just not enough and a lot of your programs won't allow you to run it off the expansion slot disks.
I've gotten a lot of "fatal errors" and had to reset the palm several times! It's definitely more sensitive than my older palm. It doesnt work well with a lot of software.
As for the internet service... yes its cool but its limited. I can get text email but NO attachments! Someone made the mistake of sending me an attachment and it went haywire. I had to reset the whole thing (ALWAYS ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR PALM!). Browsing is severely limited. Dont expect to play games, chat or shop. A lot of times, you try to do stuff, or log in to web accounts you have and error messages that i dont understand pop up. I can check my yahoo email and ebay account though. You can also do fun stuff like AOL IM and Yahoo IM. Although the bad side is the palm.net service that it hooks up to is SOOOOOO slow! And very testy. Sometimes I have to have my palm pointing out the window like an idiot to get a reception.
Don't get me wrong, I do like my palm because it lets me be anally organized and efficient and i do use it a lot but was it worth what i paid, probably not. Is the internet capabilities, out of this world, hardly. It's a bit archaic if you ask me. I may decide to take the plunge next time and go for the pocket pc. It seems thats the way the tide is turning anyway!
