| cmaw63's Full Review: Pedigree Complete Nutrition for Adult Dogs Choice ... |
Our active hunting dog wasn't maintaining her weight eating dry dog food. In an effort to stabilize her weight we added Pedigree Complete Nutrition For Adult Dogs Choice Cuts In Sauce Country Stew to her diet.
Did it Work?
Greta, our dog, is very active. In the summer months, when she didn't go on hunts, her dry dog food, PEDIGREE LARGE BREED Food for Adult Dogs was adequate in keeping her at a healthy weight. Once winter hit and hunting seasons were in full force her weight started to drop. We added the Pedigree Country Stew to each feeding (a.m. & p.m.) and were pleased to see she maintained her weight without gaining unnecessary pounds.
Does Greta Approve?
The answer would be a definite yes! Where she would eat her dry dog food throughout the day, she now doesn't leave the bowl until all the food is gone. We stir the Pedigree Country Stew into the dry dog food. We make sure it's well mixed...Greta makes sure she licks her bowl clean.
Poultry?
My big question about this food is...on the front of the can it proudly proclaims "With Real Beef." Yet, when I read the smaller print on the side, it says "A delicious, nutritionally complete meal that adult dogs love. Made with real poultry in a mouth-watering gravy." One of these days I'm going to have to call the toll free number ( 1-800-525-5273 ) and ask them why they can't make up their mind which meat I'm supposed to be impressed by.
Satisfaction Guaranteed
Pedigree guarantees your dog will enjoy their food. If you aren't satisfied you can call the toll free number. You'll need the product label and code number printed on the end of the can if you call. I've never called to complain, I'm not sure what kind of compensation they give, if any.
On the bottom of the can, besides the product code number, there is a best if used by date. I do like that we can make sure Greta is getting food that isn't outdated.
Finally...
For .45 cents per can, at our local grocery store, Pedigree Complete Nutrition For Adult Dogs Choice Cuts In Sauce Country Stew is a cheap and effective way to keep Greta at a good weight, for her. There is much more "meat" than peas & carrots in this stew, but Greta isn't complaining, which means we aren't either. As long as our veterinarian is happy with Greta's health and weight, we're happy with Pedigree.
