I am sure that we have all seen Peeps Marshmallow Candyaround both Valentine's Day and Easter.They now have many websites, but the one I like to frequent is at www.PeepsMarshmallowcandy.com Have you ever wondered what makes Peeps so fluffy? You need to know a little bit of their history to find out how.
Peeps Factory Store explains how they start preparing this delicious and sweet treat. All the Peeps' shapes first start in big kittles. Each ingredient is carefully measured and mixed together to make s slurry. The slurry is another name for the gooey marshmallow mixture. Then they place the slurry into the whipper to make it become light and fluffy.
Do you know what gives the marshmallows their colors? Colored sugar gives them their colors. The Peeps chicks comes in five colors which include
1.yellow
2.pink
3.lavender
4.blue
5.white
They mixed the sugar and the color together in large pans until the color is even. Do you know what color they use to make the white sugar for the Peep's snowmen? None.
The factory has a special secret to how they prepare the different shapes of their Peeps. They do have special machines that squish the whipped marshmallow onto moving conveyor belts covered with colored sugar. Therefore, they can only make one shape of Peeps at a time, but many marshmallows shapes can be made in a day!
The conveyor belt takes the Peeps shapes along and through a wind tunnel. In here, the colored sugar blows all around to completely cover each shape.
The last thing that is done to the Peeps before they are packaged, is when they are given the final touch. They give each Peep Marshmallow a personality by adding eyes and other decorations to them as they pass by on the conveyor belt.
One important thing I would like to mention about Peeps Marshmallow Candy is that they now have a sugar-free marshmallow hearts that comes in a three count package.
I must say that my family purchase these treats for just about any holiday! They do come in assorted packages. You can purchase the chicks in 5 count or 10 count boxes. The bunnies at Easter come in 4 count or 12 count. The cocoa bunnies come in 8 count.
These Peeps are great to use as table decorations placing them on top of Easter grass in a basket. One of these reasons that I love Beeps Marshmallow Candy is that I can purchase them for one dollar or less. Because of the way the package is made, you should eat these fairly fast. If they are not placed in a sealed bag, they become very hard and tough. I would not recommend keeping this high sugar candy in your home all of the time, but it is great for the various holidays and fills me with happiness, especially when I eating them. They are very delicious and it is a good break from too much chocolate in our diets.
