| wan3's Full Review: Peter Luger Steak House |
I was never one to prefer steak, anyway. Now I refuse ALL steak unless it is steak from Peter Luger's. The steak here is the best, most melt-in-your mouth steak there ever will be. I challenge anyone to find a better steak.
At first glance, the outside of the restaurant does not look like too much, just your typical old-style New York type of building. The doorman will greet you and is ready to help you in and out of your car. The inside decor is quaint. Hard wood floors, pleasing to the eye, not too fancy, all of which makes one feel comfortable.
The waiters are excellent, upperclass, and ready to serve. No menus are needed since there is not to much on them. If you want a run-down of the menu, just ask the waiter. Steak, of course, is the main course. The steak can be ordered in different sizes - steak for one, for two, for four - and of course how you like it. If you are a real connoisseur, you will order the steak rare - the way it should be. (But if another cooking style pleases you more, go ahead. there is nothing that can be done to a steak at Peter Luger's that will make it bad). And mmm-mmm is it good. Cooked to perfection. Crisp on the outside, juicy soft, and like I mentioned before, melt-in-your mouth inside. Nothing will caress your palate like this steak will.
You want some sides with your steak? Well Peter Luger's does not have that much, but what they do have is heavenly. Tomatoes and onions - sliced and served as if the dish was meant to grow a harmonious union between onion/tomato. And the size? I have never seen such big tomatoes! The Onions match in size and sweetness too. The other famous side: creamed spinach. To those who think that this dish might not sound too appetizing, try it, and perhaps you will like it - "try it try it..." - Sam I am. It really is the best spinach that is again, cooked to perfection.
The only drawback is that it is a bit pricey - but you get what you paid for - and that is quality! Don't forget that you will also get a taste bud experience never to be forgotten! If you are visiting New York, or live somewhere in the vicinity, you must visit this restaurant!!!!
