| gerper's Full Review: Petzl E03 Micro clip |
Before I bought the Petzl Micro E03 headlamp, I wondered what the heck people actually use them for. Well, now that I have one, I have found endless uses for it: cycling, camping, and even crawling under the house.
Petzl is famous for making climbing gear and safety and rescue equipment. Pulleys, helmets, carabiners, and harnesses are just a few of the many products they make. They are also known for making headlamps for just about every purpose: climbing, caving, and recreational use.
Cost - The Petzl Micro E03 is easily affordable at a price tag of $24.99. For that, you get the headlamp, and two standard bulbs (the extra one stores neatly within the headlamp).
Features - The Petzl Micro E03 is a small, lightweight headlamp that weighs only 5 ounces, with an adjustable three strap system fits comfortably (and securely) under a helmet or over a hat. The headlamp uses a standard bulb with an optional halogen bulb also available. Two AA batteries power the Petzl Micro E03 for up to eight hours at 70 degrees.
Other details - The lamp on the Petzl Micro E03 is an adjustable-focus beam, and the battery pack and lamp are all in the front of the headlamp. I prefer this over the lamps that have the battery pack in the back in the headlamp in the front. Still, the Petzl Micro E03 feels well-balanced and stays on your head securely, even in windy or rainy conditions.
Overall, a great headlamp that is affordable and very useful. Having a headlamp is really nice for reading in a tent or walking around the campground, and keeps your hands free. I would highly recommend this light for the recreational hiker or camper and I consider this one of my favorite pieces of gear.
