Recently I was in the market for a new set of sticks. My
"old" set were Cobra knock-offs from 1994, and although I
was basically happy with them they were starting to get a
little worn around the edges. 2001 is my 50th year on this
planet, so I decided it was time to treat myself to some name brand clubs. I checked out Titleist, Calloway, Taylor-Made and Mizuno before checking out Ping I3 O-Size(O-Size stands for "optimum size", not over size. They are only 3/16" bigger than the I3 blades, with slightly more offset)clubs. I did the Static Fitting thing at www.pinggolf.com
and took the recommendation to my local pro shop to get
fitted. Turns out the info I got from the web was right on
the money... green dot(2 degrees up) with 1/32" oversize
grips. These clubs are sweet!! They produce a higher trajectory than my old stix for softer approach shots, and
even the occasional mis-hit seems to go in the direction I'm aiming. The Cushin Insert in the shaft keeps vibration to a minimum while not taking away from any feedback.
With a little work and the with the help of these great clubs, hopefully I'll be able to shave a few strokes off my handicap(I am now a 16).
If your looking for a great set of clubs, look no further than Ping I3 O-Size.
