Freak369's Full Review: Pittsburgh Penguins Temporary Tattoos
Over the past two years I've been sucked into the Pittsburgh sport scene; I openly admit that I have absolutely no comprehension of football but I do love to tailgate. Hockey is always a blast for me, any time there is a chance of someone getting run into the boards, high sticking or a bench clearing fight, I'm all smiles. We have a couple of friends with season tickets and have been lucky to see more than a few home games and that means showing up in Penguin attire including the occasional temporary tattoo.
The designs in this set of temporary tattoos are petty basic but are nice to have for a game or tailgate party. The largest one is the "Pittsburgh Penguins" banner with penguin logo in the middle. I have no idea where you would put this outside of an arm or ankle but I guess you could cut it and layer it if you really wanted to. I've seen people put these on their face but I'd suggest against it because the first time you go to wash your face the image is going to start to come off. Then again, if you are only going to wear it for a few hours then you are in the clear.
There are some designs that have angled edges so cutting them out can be a little tricky. Make sure that the protective backing sheet is in place when you are cutting them so that the design doesn't get stuck to the scissors or anything else. The hockey puck shaped tattoo is the easiest to apply to the face but think long and hand about that. There is a fine line between being a fan and being a fanatic. You don't need to be super careful about getting these on completely straight, if they are a little off center or lopsided they still look great and you will get a lot of comments and questions about them.
Applying the temporary tattoos isn't hard but you need to take your time when cutting them off the sheet and placing them. They are applied the same was as most other temporary tats; cut out the design, place it on clean dry skin then wipe it with a damp paper towel. You should leave it in place for about 30 seconds then peel it off slowly. If the edges stick to the paper backing just press it back on to the skin and wet it a little more. These tattoos will last about three days if you don't get any soap or shampoo on them so if you are planning on hitting some parties, the image will last for the events.
Removing them isn't hard at all; you can use an alcohol prep pad or baby oil. Personally I think the alcohol is a little easier to use and causes less of a mess but if you are removing this from a sensitive area or off of a child, baby oil might be the better pick. These are one time use tattoos so make sure that you place them correctly and there are no ripples in it. Cut the sheet with sharp scissors and make sure you remove the back sheet before you place it on the skin.
I bought a pack of these for $4.00 at a local Penguin fan shop; I have seen them sell for as much as $7.99 online and at the Penguin gift shop. They are worth it if you are a Pens fan or want to have a temporary tattoo to wear to a game or a tailgate party. I've put these on Annabelle when we've gone to the games and she really liked having them on her hands and arms. She did get some snide looks from people sitting around us but we laughed it off. I might be crazy but there's no way I'd ever let a kid get a tattoo.
